Description
Construction of the dam on the Khazer River in the Duhuk governance for the purposes of irrigation, power supply, and flood control. Bakrman dam has to be constructed after completion of Khazer-Komel project (irrigation project) 14 km Northeast of Mosul dam. Dam height 42 m. power = 67 MW. Total capacity 0.55 m3 The Khalekan dam is proposed for regulating the design water level in main canals for Kazer-Gomel irrigation project. The length of the dam is 400m and 15m high and storage level is 390m. This dam is located about 20km u/s Bakerman dam near Khalekan village. This project wil be executed in coodination with Bakerman dam. Bakerman dam is proposed to serve Kazer-Gomal irrigation project in addition for power generation the storage of dam is about 490 million m3 and dead storage is 60 million m3. The height of the dam is 105m and type of this dam is an arch -concrete dam, with max discharge 3600 m3/sec in probability 1/10000 year. This project is located near Bakerman village on the Kazer river with in Aara Qatha.
Needs
The dam will need to have an Installed capacity of 70 MW.
Objective
Dam could contribute to provide storage for irrigation and additionally to cover up to hydropower energy demand.
