Basrah Canals Regulation

Description

Create a system for tidal channel flushing of the existing canal network in the City of Basra. Remove existing garbage and debris from the existing canal network in the City of Basra. Reshape cross sections of canals in specified areas. Construct six flow control gates, one each at the intersection of the Shatt Al-Arab with: Sarraji Creek, Khora Creek, Ashar Creek, Khandak Creek, Roubat Creek, and Jubaila Creek. Construct three link canals to form “loops”, improving system performance.

Needs

A network of six major canals extends throughout the City of Basra. All of these canals contain stagnant water and debris and present a health hazard to a large number of people.

Objective

Create a system for tidal channel flushing of the existing canal network in the City of Basra.
