Description
Central area main drains is located between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. The Main Out fall Drain (MOD) Extends from north of Baghdad to south of Basrah, (total length 565km), collecting the drainage water of East Gharraf project. East Gharraf Drain “EGD” discharges the drainage water by pumping to the MOD at km 179 km from the left side. The length of the drain is 172 km and serves an area of 480,000du. The estimated peak discharge is 26m3/s.
Needs
According to the MoWR the Drain is completed and there is no need for changing the system. Operation and Maintenance are required. Opportunity to treat and re-use drainage water should be considered
