Description
The Great Gharraf Drain (GGD) is one of the main drains in Iraq constructed 40 years ago. It was known as (Shatra or Holandi Drain), discharges its drainage water by gravity at km 217 on the left side of the MOD. Its length is 157 km and its discharge at the outfall is 46 m3/s. It serves an area of 773,000du. The projects served by the GGD are: Dalmaj, Al-Mghashe, right side of Middle Tigris and West Gharraf.
Needs
According to the MoWR the Drain is completed and there is no need for changing the system. Operation and Maintenance are required.
