Description
Dalmaj lake play important role within MOD system, its function is: (1) act as balance reservoir to cut the peaks months flow and keep nearly a uniform flow at the main drainage P.S at Nassiriyah (optimize the size of the P.S ), (2) Get use of the evaporation losses from the lake to reduce also the discharge capacity of the Nassiriyah main DPS, (3) Other advantage of fisheries development, brackish marsh, etc.
Needs
Divert the maximum volume of the drainage water, incoming from the upstream of its inlet and keep the lake full all the time so it gets its max area and max evaporation.
Objective
Change operation policies of MOD by diverting water into Dalmaj Lake. This operation policy is to be strictly used after all the main drains connected to MOD (like Euphrates East Drain, East Gharraf MD, etc) In the intermediate stage, until the completion

Beneficiaries
Reduce energy consumption of Nassyriah Main Drainage Pumps. Provide fisheries for fishermans
